The Spoils of (Black Friday) War

November 30, 2012

Mentioning Black Friday in the U.S. probably brings up visions of massive crowds and viscous shoppers, but put your fears away – this is about Black Friday at the fabric store! Oh yes, opening at 6 am the Friday after Thanksgiving, you can get all the fleece you want for about $2 per yard!!! What more could you ask for?

Look at the crowds! Run!

must. buy. more. flannel!

They even had flannel matching Pedro’s shirt

And here is what I got:

Ok, I didn’t get the Dritz pocket guide or the wood ironing tools (anyone know what those are called? I’m not totally sure what to do with them), those came from Bia’s bestfriend’s mom’s sewing things after she passed away. There is another set of the wood things back home too that Bia doesn’t know what to do with either. I also got a tailor’s ham and seam roll that are not pictured.

I’m really excited to have a rotary cutter (an early Hanukkah present, thanks Bia!) and I found foldover elastic too (it was in a display for baby sewing, our local store don’t seem to have it most of the time)!

Great haul. The wooden pressing tool on the left is a clapper. I’m curious to know what the other is called. Looks like you had fun.

Clappers. Also rotary cutter kicks ass. Carl got me a human sized cutting mat last year and I have been ruling my sewing dominion with the combo. Also lying down on the mat just for fun XD

So, what do you think?
