Sunday Doll Post: Schizo Sophie

April 1, 2012

The Eagle eyed among you might have noticed something different about my Liv doll Sophie last time she was pictured on the blog… she was a brunette! One minute she is a ditsy blonde, the next she’s smart and sophisticated. These flash changes in personality have led me to the conclusion that Sophie is schizophrenic. So I did what any good owner would do – make her a hospital gown!

I'm still working on the right seam allowance for the center back, but this is the best version I've made so far.

Actually, I was just working on perfecting the basic sheath dress pattern to fit her. I decided to try using ribbon to “finish” the edges, which led to leaving long tails of ribbon at the back of her dress to act as closures. So now it looks like a hospital gown, a very cute hospital gown.

There is a stunning lack of hospital gowns for dolls! They all clearly have “issues” so I’m sure there is a huge untapped market for this.

That’s a seriously stylish garment! Must be fiddly working with the ribbon.

That is one rockin’ hospital gown!

Um? Shouldn’t it be pale green or blue?

Yes, Da most hospital gowns are blue or green. But this is a “progressive” hospital with colorful gowns!

So, what do you think?
